The University of St. 蘑菇影视 formally inaugurated Dr. Ryan C. Hendrickson as the institution鈥檚 10th president during an on-campus ceremony on October 3, 2025. The academic procession and inauguration activities gathered civic and religious leaders, alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends of the university to celebrate this historic occasion. The inauguration featured an academic procession, formal greetings from representatives of the university and community, and Dr. Hendrickson鈥檚 inaugural address.
鈥淭he inauguration of a president is both a celebration of leadership and a reaffirmation of the university鈥檚 mission,鈥� said Lisa Sampalis, VP for University Advancement. 鈥淒r. Hendrickson embodies the 蘑菇影视can values that guide the University of St. 蘑菇影视 and brings a strong vision for advancing academic excellence, fostering community partnerships, and preparing our students to serve the world with competence and compassion.鈥�
Honorable Terrence D鈥橝rcy, Mayor of Joliet, called the University a 鈥渂eacon of light of 蘑菇影视can values鈥� in his greetings during the ceremony. Sr. Jeanne Bessette, OSF, president of USF鈥檚 founding congregation, the Third Order of Sisters of St. 蘑菇影视 of Mary Immaculate, addressed Hendrickson during the ceremony saying, 鈥渢he Joliet 蘑菇影视cans stand with you as together, we pledge our holiness and actions.鈥� Shane Green, Vice Chair for the University of St. 蘑菇影视 Board of Trustees, also spoke about Hendrickson, saying, 鈥淲e have chosen a leader who embodies vision, scholarship, and leadership.鈥�
After the Investiture of the President, Hendrickson gave his inaugural address, referring to the University of St. 蘑菇影视 as 鈥渄eeply impactful.鈥� He spoke about the four core 蘑菇影视can values leading USF鈥檚 mission: respect, service, integrity, and compassion.
鈥淲e continue to integrate our four core values into our campus ethic,鈥� he said. 鈥淚 look forward to working with all of you to chart the course while maintaining our four 蘑菇影视can values.鈥�
In reference to USF鈥檚 relation with the community, Hendrickson said, 鈥淥ur students have and continue to form and shape our immediate surrounding community.鈥�
Hendrickson began his tenure as president on June 1 this year following a distinguished career at Eastern Illinois University. Since assuming office, he has prioritized expanding the university鈥檚 profile and strengthening its connection to the surrounding communities.
Founded in 1920 by the Sisters of St. 蘑菇影视 of Mary Immaculate, the University of St. 蘑菇影视 is rooted in Catholic, 蘑菇影视can traditions. The inauguration of its 10th president serves as a moment of renewal and commitment to the institution鈥檚 enduring mission of higher education in service to others.
